Ear Flap

Using Colour A
  1. Fold the hat into half with the SL ST seam at the fold line. Measure or eye up the half way point between the two sides of the hat. Mark both sides of the hat's middle point as you will need to do two ear flap sides to keep them the same distance.
  2. From the middle, count 6 stitches back to find your starting point. Fasten on yarn.
  3. Ch 2, then HDC into the next 12 stitches. Turn.
  4. Ch 2, HDC across. Turn.
  5. Ch 2, HDC across. Turn.
  6. Ch 2, HDC across, Turn.
  7. Ch 2, then 2 TOG HDC DEC, then HDC until the final two stitches. On the final 2 stitches, 2 TOG HDC DEC again. Turn.
  8. Repeat Step 7. Fasten off and weave in ends.
  9. Repeat the second flap by going back to the middle point and counting back 6 stitches to find your beginning. Repeat steps 2 - 8 once again.

Surrounding Brim

Using Colour C
  1. Fasten on at the corner of one of the ear flaps where it is next to the brim of the hat. On the picture, it is fastened on where the pink meets the white.
  2. Ch 1, SC all the way around the brim which includes around the ear flaps. For the sides of the ear flap where there are no stitches, equally space your SC so it looks like the same distance of regular stitching. Do not do anything special for the corners of turns of the material as this technique will create soft edges.
  3. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Braids

  1. I recommend a total of 12 or so strands per side. The tightness of the braid is up to you.
  2. The length of the braid is about 10" but that length is a personal choice. Just ensure it's not a choking hazzard.
  3. Cut 6 strands that are about 54" Long. I used 2 strands of each of the colours to make it a bit more interesting.
  4. Bunch the strands together and fold into half. Using a crochet hook, insert the hook from the inside of the hat and grab the strands at the fold and pull through about 3". Then insert the tails of the strands through the loop to secure.
  5. Separate strands into 3 groups of 4 strands. Braid them together to the desired length.
  6. Repeat again for the other side.

Thanks! I hope this pattern has helped you, and happy crocheting.
Here is tip I learned. Instead of buying stitch markers, you can use the twist-tie thing from a finished bag of sliced bread.
sorry for bad picture quality
This is a baby doll that I made for my best friends little sister, who's favorite color is, of course, pink. Make this doll for a little girl in your life by following this very easy pattern. This doll is approximately 15 inches tall.

 You will need:
-A size 6 mm and a size 5 mm crochet hook
-1 skein of dark pink yarn or color of your choice
-1 skein of skin colored yarn
-1 skein of hair colored yarn
-2 buttons or beads
- A bag of fiber fill
- A tapestry needle

For this pattern you only  need to know how to:
-Single crochet (sc.)
-Double crochet (dc.)
-Chain (ch)
-Slip Stitch (sl st)
-Single crochet 2 together (sc2tog). I'll explain this stitch when you'll need to use it.

This doll is worked from the legs up.

Use the 6 mm hook.
Legs (make 2):
Round 1: ch 2, 10 sc in second ch from hook, sl st to first sc. 10 sc.
Round 2: ch 1, *sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc. repeat from * around, sl st to first sc. 15 sc.
Round 3: ch 1, sc in each sc around, sl st to first sc.
Round 4-24: ch 1, sc in each sc around, sl st to first sc. fasten off.

join the legs together with a sl st, then sc in sc around each leg, then stuff the legs tightly with fiber fill . You should have 30 sc.

Use 6 mm hook.

Round 17: ch 1, sc2tog over next 2 sc 3 times, fasten off with slightly long tail, sew hand shut, weave in ends.

Use 6 mm hook for the hood.

To make the hood:
-ch 31, dc in third chain from hook, dc in each chain all the way across, ch 2, turn. 30 dc.
-dc in dc across, ch 2, turn. repeat this round 5 more times. You should have 6 rows of dc by the end.
- fold the rows in half, and sc through 2 dc across. 15 sc. Fasten off, and weave in ends.

To finish the doll:
This is where you can be creative. Your doll can be hood-less, or with a hood. You can sew the hood to the neck, or don't so it can be more like a hat. you can sew the hood to the doll's head, or don't so it can be removable. The hair takes a while to make, and I didn't feel like finishing the whole head, so I did the front half, then made the hood and sewed it onto the head. This makes the hood non removable, and the doll can be bald underneath but no one will be able to see it! You can sew the beads or buttons on the doll, add lace trim, bows, and accessories.

To make the hair:
cut a 20 inch piece of the hair colored yarn, and fasten it with a knot on top of the doll head. inside each stitch, make a turkey loop stitch. to make the turkey loop stitch:

This stitch is composed of locked loops. Bring needle up through a stitch and back down through same stitch (Point A, Fig. 3) forming a loop on right side of work. Insert needle up through stitch to either side of loop (Point B), back down through Point A, and back up through Point B. Begin next stitch at Point B.
Fig. 3

And your doll is finished! Happy crocheting, and i hope this pattern has helped you, and brought smiles to young girls faces everywhere.
